Thi is my first year with Hollister Middle School! I will be teaching Special Education for students in 6th-8th grades. My day will be primarily spent co-teaching with all three grade levels of math as well as 8th grade Science. I will also have opportunities throughout the day for resource time to assist students individually on their personal academic and social/emotional goals.
I have had two professional teaching positions before coming to Hollister. My first year of teaching was spent in a public high school setting where I was the Self-Contained Emotional Disability placement teacher. I taught all subjects to my students that school year.
After that year, I spent the next 5 years teaching Special Education at a Residential Treatment Center for youth-in-care. During that time I taught a wide array of subjects; however, I primarily was responsible for the high school Social Studies curriculum.
In addition to professional teaching experience, I also have experience in the community that led to the completion of my Master’s in Crisis Response & Trauma as well as getting Certified as a Recovery Support Specialist.
